Stress Support with Reflexology and Nutrition in Farnham

You're holding it all together. The house, the kids, the diary, the work, the endless "who's picking up who". But inside, you feel frazzled, snappy and permanently on edge, and you can't remember when you last properly switched off.

That's where I come in! Hi, I'm Sarah, a BANT-registered nutritional therapist (DipION, mBANT, CNHC) and level 5 clinical reflexologist (AoR, CNHC) in Farnham, Surrey. I help busy women slow down with deeply relaxing reflexology and practical nutrition support that fits around real life.

Why stress affects so many different parts of your health

One of the reasons stress can feel so frustrating is because it rarely shows up in just one way.

For some women, it's difficulty sleeping. For others, it's bloating, digestive discomfort or constantly feeling exhausted. Some notice changes in their menstrual cycle or worsening PMS symptoms. Others find themselves reaching for sugary snacks or another cup of coffee simply to keep going.

These aren't random symptoms. Your nervous system, digestive system, hormones and immune system are all closely connected. When one area is under pressure, it's common for others to feel the effects too. That's why I take a whole-person approach rather than focusing on one symptom in isolation.

Stress is more than just feeling busy

When we talk about stress, most people think about having too much to do. But your body doesn't distinguish between a difficult meeting at work, worrying about your children, poor sleep, skipping meals or constantly rushing from one thing to the next. It simply recognises that it needs to stay alert.

Your nervous system is brilliantly designed to protect you in moments of danger. When you're faced with a genuine threat, it switches into what's often called "fight or flight" mode. Your heart beats faster, your breathing changes and your body prepares to respond.

The problem is that modern life rarely gives us the opportunity to switch back off again.

Instead, many women spend weeks, months or even years living in a constant state of low-level stress. Over time, this can leave you feeling physically and emotionally depleted.

You might notice your shoulders permanently creeping up towards your ears. You may struggle to concentrate, forget simple things or feel like you're constantly running on adrenaline.

Your body isn't failing you. It's doing exactly what it was designed to do. It simply hasn't had enough opportunities to rest.

Reflexology: an hour where nobody needs anything from you

Reflexology is a gentle, hands-on treatment on the feet. Lie back and take a deep breath - there are no to-do lists here, no notifications and no one asking what's for dinner. Just you, one hour, feet up.

Many people find reflexology deeply relaxing and calming, and it's not unusual for clients to drift off to sleep.  My treatment room in Farnham is peaceful and quiet - a place to properly switch off and let someone else look after you for a change.

Nutrition: steadier foundations for busy days

When we're stressed, food often becomes an afterthought. Breakfast is replaced with coffee. Lunch is grabbed between meetings. Dinner happens late in the evening when you're already exhausted. Sound familiar?

The irony is that this is often when your body needs nourishment the most. Food provides the building blocks your body relies on every single day. Protein supports muscle repair and hormone production. Healthy fats help support brain function. Fibre-rich foods nourish your gut microbiome, which is closely linked with your nervous system.

Rather than following restrictive diets or searching for the latest wellness trend, I encourage clients to focus on simple, sustainable habits that support energy and resilience. That might mean eating a protein-rich breakfast, building balanced meals that help keep blood sugar steady or making sure you're eating regularly throughout the day instead of surviving on caffeine and snacks.

But my nutrition consultations are about so much more than food alone - we will also look at your lifestyle, environment, sleep, and lots of other factors that could be playing into the way you're feeling.

Nutrition isn't about perfection. It's about giving your body the resources it needs to cope with life's demands.

All nutrition consultations can be held in person in Farnham, Surrey or online.

Why I combine nutritional therapy and reflexology

This is where my approach is a little different. Nutrition and reflexology aren't competing therapies. They complement one another beautifully.

Nutrition helps provide your body with the nutrients it needs to function well, while reflexology creates space for rest, relaxation and reconnection.

Some clients choose nutritional therapy because they want to understand the root causes of their symptoms. Others come purely for reflexology because they need an hour to unwind. Many enjoy combining both.

Frequently asked questions

How can reflexology and nutrition help me with stress?

Many people find reflexology deeply relaxing and calming, and it can promote a sense of wellbeing. It isn't a treatment for stress, anxiety or any medical condition, so it works best alongside other support.

Nutritional therapy can support your overall health and wellbeing, and steadier eating habits can help you feel more balanced day to day. It isn't a treatment for mental health conditions, so please speak to your GP if you're struggling.

Is reflexology safe?

Reflexology is suitable for most people, although in rare cases it may not be suitable. Often some simple adjustments to the treatment will be sufficient but other times it may be better to postpone your treatment. If you have a specific concern, please don't hesitate to reach out so we can decide on the best way forward.

Can I work with you online?

Yes, nutrition consultations can be held online as well as in Farnham. Reflexology treatments take place in my little Farnham clinic room only.
